(BEDFORD) - A rather strange accident out in the county sent a woman to the hospital.
Lawrence County Sheriff's reports say 28-year-old Alisha Kernan of Bedford left Bedford North Lawrence High School at a high rate of speed, struck a steel barrier, and kept on going.
The lookout for Kernan's vehicle was put out, and as she was traveling northbound on Bartlettsville Road, she unexpectedly crossed the centerline and ran off the opposite side of the road coming to a stop at a driveway about 500 feet south of Wallner Quarry Road.
When emergency responders arrived, they say Kernan was incoherent and could not explain what happened.
Heltonville resident Robert Turner, who saw Kernan cross the road in front of him as he was heading the opposite direction, told deputies most of what happened.
Kernan was transferred by ambulance to Dunn Memorial Hospital where toxicology test results are still pending.
