(SEYMOUR) - Cereplast has selected Seymour for its bio-based plastic resin manufacturing and distribution facility.
Up to 200 new jobs will be created.
The company plans to manufacture up to a half billion pounds of its bio-based plastic resin at the new facility, calling it the world's largest. California-based Cereplast says it will initially invest 7 million dollars in an existing Seymour building and will begin hiring in early 2008.
The announcement of Cereplast's decision to locate the new facility in Indiana comes two months after the company launched its new hybrid plastic resins.
The Society of the Plastics Industry says plastics are a 378 billion dollar annual industry in the United States that employed more than 1.1 million in 2006. The plastics industry employed nearly 60-thousand Hoosiers in 2005.
