(BLOOMINGTON) - An Indiana University police officer was injured in an accident while assisting Bloomington police this morning.
Captain Jerry Minger of IUPD says Sergeant James Snyder was westbound on 5th Street in Bloomington en route to a reported fight in progress outside the Monroe County Library.
According to Captain Minger, as Snyder was crossing Walnut Street through a red light, with his emergency lights on, a northbound vehicle came through the intersection and T-boned Snyder's cruiser shortly after 3:00 this morning.
Sergeant Snyder was taken by ambulance for medical care and was released around 9:00 this morning.
Both Bloomington and IU police departments are investigating the incident.
No reports regarding the identity or potential fault of the other driver have been released.
