(BROWNSTOWN) - A Gaston teenager has pleaded guilty in a series of sniper shootings which left a New Albany man dead.
18-year-old Zachariah Blanton pleaded a murder charge down to voluntary manslaughter. He faces anywhere from 20-to-53 years in prison when he's sentenced. The murder charge would have carried a minimum of 45 years.
The family of Blanton's victim opposed the plea and plans to sue Blanton.
Jackson County Prosecutor Richard Poynter says he understands their feelings, but says he didn't feel he had the evidence to win a conviction for murder.
