(BEDFORD) - Former Democratic contender for Bedford mayor, Tony Van Pelt, has decided to throw his hat in the ring for State Senate in District 44 for the coming election cycle.
Assuming Van Pelt clears the Democratic primary, he will take on incumbent Republican Brent Steele in the 2008 general elections.
Van Pelt's stances presently revolve around consumer protection and protection of employees in Indiana.
Van Pelt lost to Alan "Big Al" Craig in the May 2007 primary for Bedford mayor, but says he learned a lot from his first go 'round in politics and is coming into this race more prepared.
In the interest of full disclosure, it should be noted that State Senator Steele sits on the board of directors for Ad-Venture Media, Inc. Ad-Venture Media, Inc. is the parent company of WBIW-AM, WQRK-FM and WPHZ-FM.
