(UNDATED) - August 2007 was a month of big news in the Bedford area.
Plane Goes Down Near Bloomington
The month started off with a plane going down south of Monroe County Airport. The plane came to a stop upside down in a cornfield near Bloomington after its pilot, Justin Boren of Martinsville, tried to put it down in an emergency after noticing a malfunction in one of the instruments.
Boren was taking the aircraft on a test flight after performing maintenance, and was able to walk away from the crash without major injuries.

Johnson was one of the original employees of Bedford's WBIW radio, and wore many hats in the community after that. 'Nuff said.
