(UNDATED) - December was a month that closed a lot of open news business for the year, and opened up new issues for the year to come.
Teen Sniper Receives 42-Years Behind Bars
The month started when Zachariah Blanton pled guilty in Jackson Circuit Court for the 2006 sniper shootings around Seymour, Indiana.
Blanton would eventually be sentenced to 42 years for the death of 40-year-old Jerry Ross.
Springville Teen Dies After Auto Accident
A Springville teen would die from injuries suffered in a freak rollover accident on Reuter Lane at the end of November.
18-year-old Brandon Kimbrel suffered massive head trauma in the wreck and was flown to University of Louisville hospital where he would be pronounced dead in early December.
Pre-trial Announced For Monroe County Man
Jerry Pelfree, the man who was arrested for allegedly shooting 2 men and stuffing their bodies in barrels would be given a second pre-trial date for the middle of January 2008.
Authorities allege Pelfree shot Everett Shaw and Douglas Brown and used a sledge hammer to stuff their bodies in the drums.
Shoals Man Accused Of Setting Prosecutor's Office On Fire
The Martin County prosecutor would file arson charges against a Shoals man who set his office on fire.
26-year-old Cary Lee Clifton is scheduled to stand trial in early 2008 for torching the prosecutor's office along with other offenses from the same incident.
FBI Searches Bloomington Doctor's Office And Home
The big news of the month would come from Bloomington, where FBI agents would raid the home and offices of Doctor Kamal Tiwari, a prominent anestesieologist and one of the doctors responsible for founding Monroe Hospital.
People in FBI jackets would be seen loading a rental truck with boxes full of materials from Tiwari's offices.
Whether or not the investigation is related to allegations of Tiwari's needle recycling are not known, as the FBI is still being tight-lipped on what's going on.
Former Linton Mayor Dies
4 days before New Years, long-time Linton Mayor James K. Wright, known as "Jimmie K," died at his home after a length illness.
Linton Mayor Tom Jones ordered flags in Linton to be flown at half-mast.
New Mitchell Mayor Sworn In
That same day, Republican Dan Terrell would be sworn in a small ceremony as mayor of Mitchell.
