(BEDFORD) - Indiana 4th District Congressman Steve Buyer has announced an expansion of hours for the upcoming 2008 Hoosier Job Fair at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.
Hours for the fair on March 3rd have been expanded from 9:00am until 3:00pm to 10:00am until 5:00pm. When WBIW News broke the story of the fair originally almost 2 weeks ago, the job fair was primarily touted as a way for soon-to-be-displaced Visteon workers to get rolling on their next step in professional life.
However, local IUE-CWA Union President Phyllis Gassaway was concerned that 1st shift workers at Visteon, who make up most of the workforce there, would not be able to attend due to the hours lying almost entirely during their daily shift.
Buyer and his crew were concerned about changing them since they feared businesses would not want to participate for longer or later hours, however, Michelle Price, from Buyer's Plainfield office, told WBIW News all previously signed-up businesses have been favorable to the change.
None have pulled out, and they continue to get positive feedback from businesses interested in signing on.
