(LINTON) - Yesterday was a big day in politics, both nationally and locally, as presidential candidates received their first nods in Iowa, and the chairman of the Greene County Democractic Party received a warrant for his arrest.
Greene County Democratic Party Chairman Jeff Lehman is being accused of beating a Linton woman, facing charges of strangulation, battery with injury, disorderly conduct and interfering with the reporting of a crime.
According to an affidavit at the Greene County Sheriff's Office, a woman called 911 and the dispatcher heard screaming and then the phone line go dead.
The dispatcher called back and the woman told the dispatcher Lehman had beat her, but that nothing could be done about it because of who he was and that, according to the caller, Linton police officers let him get away with it.
The warrant was issued yesterday afternoon, no word yet on whether Lehman has been taken into custody at this time.
