Last updated on Wednesday, January 9, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine has given a big bump to Indiana University in its rankings of the “100 Best Values in Public College.”

Actually, they have given IU 21 bumps up their list.

The 21-point bump puts Indiana in 34th place overall and 4th among Big Ten schools. Ranked colleges have a huge range in student body sizes, going from more than 41,000 at Arizona State, to just shy of 750 at the New College of Florida.

The only other Indiana campus on the list was Purdue, ranked at 47.

The school ranked at number 100 is Illinois State University.

The best big ten school is Michigan at number 16.

Number 1, you ask? That's the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
