Need A Job? Become A Nurse!

Last updated on Tuesday, January 15, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - Those looking for a new career in Indiana for one reason or another may want to take some time to consider nursing.

A report just released by the Indiana Business Research Center at IU's Kelley School of Business has discovered registered nursing is the hottest job in the Hoosier State.

The report expects more than 15,000 registered nursing jobs to become available by the year 2014, which isn't too bad a deal since median wages for an RN in Indiana crest $51,000.

Among the 11 Economic Growth Regions as defined by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, nursing is showing the most growth in career availability in 7 of those regions.

Other job growth is being seen in the information technology fields up in Northwest Indiana, trucking is growing around the Louisville suburbs, maintenance and repair work is doing well in our neck of the woods, and the demand for assembly line workers is growing near where the Greensburg Honda plant will be going up.
