(BLOOMINGTON) - A tractor trailer in Bloomington turned over and dumped its load of garbage on the State Road 45/46 Bypass in Bloomington yesterday afternoon.
WBIW News reported as it happened when the truck turned on its side in the middle of the 37 overpass, completely blocking westbound 46.
According to the state police investigation, troopers say the driver, Mark Carter of Indianapolis, was exiting northbound 37 onto the westbound Bypass when he says a wind gust coupled with a load shift caused the trailer to turn over, bringing the tractor with it.
Carter was not injured, but the trash in his open-top trailer spilled all over the roadway.
Access to 37 was restricted as troopers blocked the ramp from the Bypass to northbound 37 and westbound travelers couldn't really get to the south 37 ramp due to the truck being in the way.
Lanes were blocked from at least 2:00 in the afternoon until about quarter after 6:00pm.
