(UNDATED) - Another frequent internet scam is taking a more personal touch by changing to a phone scam.
Indiana State Police warn Hoosiers of a lottery scam coming out of Jamaica. State Police Sergeant Rich Meyers says people in Indiana have been receiving calls from an 876 area code number, which is Jamaica, saying they have either won a lottery or other found monies that are located in Jamaica and Bulgaria.
Needless to say, you haven't won anything.
These callers are encouraging victims to wire cash to bank accounts located both in and out of the US in order to collect their winnings.
State police remind Hoosiers never to give out personal info like social security, bank or credit card numbers nor to agree to send money.
Finally, if you do get one of these calls, gather as much information as you can, and then call the Attorney General's office at (800) 382-5516.
Remember, if you didn't buy a lottery ticket, you didn't win, and if you don't know why you would find money in Bulgaria, you most likely didn't.
