(BEDFORD) - A former firefighter from Bedford is dropping his bid to run for governor as a Republican.
Bedford native LaRon Keith announced his candidacy back in September, but issued a release Monday saying a car crash has led to injuries that make it difficult to campaign.
The Republican says the accident has prevented him from getting signatures required to get on the ballot. Now, he plans to back Governor Daniels in his bid for a second term.
This leaves Governor Daniels, at present, unchallenged in the Republican gubernatorial primary this coming May.
Two Democrats, Jim Schellinger and Jill Long Thompson, are seeking their party's nomination.
