(INDIANAPOLIS) - Bedford State Senator Brent Steele, along with the entire Indiana State Senate, honored a Bedford Air Force veteran of World War II.
James Lee Hutchinson of Bedford wasn't even 20 years old when he was a radio operator and gunner aboard a B-17 Flying Fortress based in England during the Second World War.
After returning home, Hutchinson earned his masters in education from Indiana University and then spent the next 37 years of his life serving the students of North Lawrence Community Schools.
Hutchinson penned a book titled Through These Eyes based on his experiences which Indiana Senator Richard Lugar has had placed in the Library of Congress.
He is currently working on a second book and working with BNL students to record the stories of other area veterans.
