(JASPER) - Jasper-based Kimball Office is donating new office furniture to eight organizations in New Orleans still rebuilding from Hurricane Katrina.
Kimball says the need in the hurricane-ravaged city is still great. Almost half of the 56 applicants are still in temporary office space or housing.
A majority of the office furniture going to private businesses and non-profit organizations will be installed in the next week and a half.
General Manager Jeff Fenwick says while there has been a great amount of attention paid to the rebuilding of homes in New Orleans, they feel it is important to also support the rebuilding of work places.
He says without businesses there are no jobs and without jobs there are no people.
Fenwick says all of the Kimball Office's recipients lost their business offices and inventory, in addition to employees, customers and donors who fled the city and have yet to return.
