(BEDFORD) - Still no word on where that smell wafting about the listening area yesterday came from.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management's Barry Sneed told WBIW News the original reports came in from Lawrence County of a pervasive smell reminiscent of rotten eggs, ammonia or dirty dishwater.
Emergency management crews were dispatched all over the area including Lawrence, Monroe and Orange Counties trying to find the source, since the odor was most closely identified as a propane gas leak.
The smell dissipated by the afternoon, but the investigation did not.
Lawrence County Emergency Management's Valerie Luchauer told WBIW News no reports of any related illness came in to her office.
