(SPENCER) - Hundreds of panels of Southern Indiana limestone are making their way to New York, where they are forming the outer facade of the new Yankee Stadium.
Indiana Limestone Fabricators has already shipped more than 600 stone panels, each five-feet-by-three feet to the Bronx for the new $800 million stadium.
It's scheduled to open for the 2009 season. The limestone is coming from the Empire Quarry in Oolitic.
It's the same quarry that provided the limestone for the Empire State Building in 1931.
