(UNDATED) - All candidacy filings were in by Friday at noon and now we have the 2008 Indiana primary to look forward to this coming May.
Secretary of State Todd Rokita said more people filed to run in this year's elections than in 2004.
In Lawrence County, we're looking at several primary contests.
For Bedford's State Senate seat in District 44, 2 people are vying for the Democratic nomination including Tony "Big Dog" Van Pelt and Matthew S. Colglazier.
Four Republicans will be jockeying to challenge Democratic incumbent Sandra Blanton for her State House District 62 seat which she took over from French Lick political veteran Jerry Denbo.
A third person has filed to challenge 4th District incumbent Republican Congressman Steve Buyer. This May, Buyer will square off against Bedford's "Firefighter" LaRon Keith and Mike Campbell.
Additionally, there are 3 county races with primary contests including County Commissioner Districts 2 and 3 and County Council at Large, with contests in both parties.
Complete list of candidates can be found here.
