(BEDFORD) - The storms that are pretty much on top of us are already having an impact on people in and around the area, especially the students who go to school in area school districts and their families.
So far, several school districts in the area, including North Lawrence, Mitchell, Orleans and Paoli have announced early dismissal times on Thursday due to the storms moving in this Thursday afternoon.
So far, areas in the southern part of our listening area, including Orange, Washington, Dubois, and Crawford Counties, including the cities of Paoli, Salem, Jasper and Marengo, are under an ice storm warning as of 9:00am Thursday morning and going on until 9:00am Friday morning.
Moving north, Lawrence, Monroe, Martin, Jackson, Brown, Greene, and Bartholomew Counties, including the cities of Bedford, Bloomington, Columbus and Seymour, are under a winter weather advisory starting at 7:00pm Thursday evening until 7:00pm Friday night.
The ice storm for those affected means around a quarter inch of ice will glaze over road surfaces, causing significant danger for drivers, especially on hilly country roads.
