(CAREFREE) - About 15 workers were taken to a hospital Thursday after an explosion released a cloud of hydrochloric acid gas at a Southern Indiana engine plant.
State Police Sergeant Chad Dick says the accident was reported at the Jasper Engines & Transmissions plant in carefree, about 35 miles west of Louisville, Kentucky.
Dick says the workers were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Dick says employees were mixing chemicals when a cloud of hydrochloric acid gas formed, forcing a plant evacuation.
Jasper Engines employs about 1,600 people at locations in Jasper and Crawford County. The company refurbishes engines and transmissions.
