(BEDFORD) - A young Bedford man was arrested from an incident that probably didn’t have to happen.
A Bedford officer noticed the car driven by 19-year-oild Alex Conn of Bedford was allegedly driving suspiciously, seeming to try and avoid the officer by pulling into parking lots and then leaving.
The officer would eventually take down the license number which, Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley says, came back for the same vehicle but a different color, indicating the tags may have been falsified.
The officer flicked on his lights behind Conn on 16th Street, and then police say Conn sped up shooting eastbound on 16th.
At Tunnelton Road, however, Conn lost control, went left of center and struck a guardrail.
Conn was then arrested and taken to Lawrence County jail charged with reckless driving and resisting arrest by fleeing.
