(BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY) - A Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy has been injured in a 2-car wreck on US-31 south of Columbus.
State Police Seymour reports say 23-year-old Deputy William Kinman Jr. of Columbus was eastbound on CR300 East in his police cruiser approaching US-31 as 38-year-old Brian Capps of Seymour was coming through south on US-31.
Kinman's cruiser struck the front end of Capps' Chevy sending him into the ditch.
Capps and his passenger, 37-year-old Mark Beeman of Columbus, both said they saw the cruiser stop at the stop sign, and then inch closer and ultimately into their path.
All 3 people had their seat belts on which state troopers assert prevented life-threatening injuries, but all three were taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with shoulder pain, and Beeman also had lacerations to his face.
