(BEDFORD) - Today is the big day for Bubba’s visit to Bedford. Former President Bill Clinton is due in Columbus around 9:00am this morning, then making his way to Seymour, and then to the Bedford Middle School gymnasium.
The Bedford "Solutions for America" event opens its doors at 12:30 this afternoon, and, currently, law enforcement and security officials are expecting the former head of state to arrive around the 1:00 mark.
People who are looking to attend the event should arrive early since parking is expected to be scare, at best.
After the event, President Clinton is due to head north to Bloomington to an event at the Assembly Hall which is set to begin around 2:00pm.
Bedford Police and Lawrence County Sheriff's officers have told WBIW News that, once Bill Clinton is at Bedford Middle School, they are in charge of security.
To that end, they are taking a number of precautions to keep both former President Clinton and people attending the event safe. At 10:00am this morning, 15th Street will be closed between O and M Streets, and O Street will be closed from 15th to 16th.
Bedford police also say they will not allow purses, backpacks, bags, packages or anything else that could potentially conceal a weapon, so anyone who brings a bag will be turned away at the door.
Kirk also said that signs will be permissible, so long as they are not attached to any sort of stick or pole. Those could be potentially be used as weapons.
Finally, small cameras and camcorders will be allowed, however, if you still have one of those old VHS "bazooka" camcorders or any other large camera, you should also leave that at home.
