(BEDFORD) - The Shauna Hawkins trial gets back underway today. Today is day 4 of the sexual misconduct trial of the former Lawrence County Jail Matron.
The jury was seated yesterday for the actual trial to begin, and a verdict is still expected to be handed down this week.
Hawkins is facing a felony count of sexual misconduct for an alleged sexual relationship she had with a Lawrence County inmate while serving as jail matron.
Court records indicate Hawkins allegedly performed oral sex on inmate Kevin Edwards while he was incarcerated.
This trial is part of the sweep of the Sheriff's Department, that has also seen charges brought against former Sheriff Kent Hawkins, who pleaded guilty to forgery in February, and officers John Potter and Mike Terry.
