(BLOOMINGTON) - Illinois Senator Barack Obama made a surprise visit to the Little 500 a while after 3:00pm this afternoon.

Obama campaign spokesperson Ganette Tseggai sent out an itinerary earlier this week saying he was heading from a morning event in Columbus, Indiana, straight to an event tonight in Terre Haute, and every Monroe County law enforcement agency WBIW News could contact said they had no report of him coming as of late this morning.

However, at a little before 4:00pm this afternoon, the Obama bus pulled into the Bill Armstrong Stadium parking lot.

IUPD Captain Jerry Minger told WBIW News this morning that, besides some generic information provided early this week, they have not heard of anything indicating Obama will be in Bloomington, and Monroe County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Scott Mellinger told WBIW News that they are not currently planning on him coming.

However, when asked what kind of lead time Secret Service officials would have to provide should he make a surprise stop, both Mellinger and Minger said, not much, although Mellinger said more time is obviously better.

However, after time spent watching the race, and a quick trip to Nick's Bar, Obama's off to North Vigo High School in Terre Haute.
