(COLUMBUS) - It’s confirmed, Illinois Senator Barack Obama will bypass Bloomington, a stop that had been rumored for a day or so, and will instead conduct a town hall meeting in Columbus.
Law enforcement agencies in Bloomington had been contacted by Secret Service officials about the presidential hopeful coming to Bloomington, however, shortly after 2:15 this afternoon, the itinerary was officially released by the Obama campaign, and Bloomington wasn't on it.
Right now the plan has Obama starting in South Bend tonight at Washington High School at 7:00pm.
Thursday starts at another town hall meeting at Roosevelt High School in Gary at 9:00am, then Jefferson High School in Lafayette at 6:00pm.
Friday, Obama will conduct another town hall meeting at Columbus East High School at 11:30am, and then heading to Terre Haute to North Vigo High School.
His last stop will be at Ball State University Saturday at Irving Gym at 9:45am.
Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig told WBIW News early this afternoon that, by that time, he had not been contacted about the Illinois Senator coming to Lawrence County.
