(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man is dead after a traffic accident yesterday morning on Old 37.
Monroe County Sheriff's officials say 78-year-old Wilburn Brown of Bloomington was northbound on Old 37, just south of the IN-37 ramp, when, for reasons still unknown, Brown veered right, bounced off a bridge guardrail, came back across the centerline and ran head-on into a sport utility vehicle with 3 people in it.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, and all three people in the SUV were injured as well. One occupant broke both arms, another broke an ankle and the third suffered only minor injuries.
Officials have scheduled an autopsy for Wilburn Brown to ascertain a medical condition that could have caused the wreck.
