(BEDFORD) - Bedford police have two people in custody from a seemingly strange incident.
Bedford's Assistant Chief of Police, Dan Kirk, told WBIW News they were called to the Dunn Memorial Hospital parking lot regarding a woman apparently passed out in her driver's seat.
When police got there, they had a hard time rousing 22-year-old Shannon Hardin and say she appeared heavily intoxicated and also found marijuana in a cigarette box in her lap.
When they were taking her into custody, officers were approached by another man, 26-year-old Travis Barlow of Scottsburg, who reportedly started cussing at the officers and, "expressing his displeasure" at the arrest being made.
Officers would eventually arrest him and, according to reports, Barlow allegedly became physically combative, both during the arrest and when the got him to the jail.
Kirk says it was apparently bad enough that they had to restrain him and place him in a padded cell.
Hardin is in Lawrence County jail charged with public intoxication and possession of marijuana.
Barlow is charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest by force.
