(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police have nabbed another alleged heroin dealer and an accomplice.
Bloomington Police Department's Captain Joe Qualters tells WBIW News 30-year-old Shelby Chandler of Bloomington was arrested Tuesday on multiple felony counts involving heroin dealing.
Police say in informant tipped them off to Chandler's alleged dealing and then say officers conducted controlled purchases from Chandler at the home of 28-year-old Christopher Whitaker.
When police finally caught up with Chandler to make the arrest, they say he had heroin in possession and just shy of $1,300 dollars cash on hand. Qualters says police officers are finding heroin to be almost as available as cocaine in Bloomington, but can't explain why it's becoming so popular recently.
Whitaker is facing one felony count of maintaining a common nuisance.
Chandler is facing felony counts of possession of heroin with intent to deal, dealing within 1,000 feet of a family complex, and 2 counts of dealing heroin.
The dealing alone is a Class-A felony charge and Qualters speculates that, if convicted on just one charge, Chandler could be facing between 6 and 20 years in the pen.
