(UNDATED) - Eleven counties still haven’t sent homeowners their property tax rebate checks.
Marion, Shelby and Posey Counties were ordered to redo their assessments, and can't send rebates until they send last year's revised bills.
Brown County didn't have a do-over, but still didn't get its 2007 bills in the mail till this year.
The state Department of Local Government Finance has no authority over the rebates, so spokeswoman Mary Jane Michalak says it's not clear why Lake, Clark, Wayne, Clinton, Jasper and White Counties hadn't sent them at last check, two weeks ago.
LaPorte County's rebates are held up in a dispute with the DLGF over reassessment. The state told LaPorte County in September its assessment would stand.
But one homeowner hired his own consultant, who's questioning property values countywide.
The DLGF found the evidence compelling enough to review the assessment further, and will hold a hearing Thursday to decide whether to order a do-over there.
