(FRENCH LICK) - Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies, French Lick police, and state police from the Jasper District had a standoff to deal with late yesterday.
According to Sgt. Chad Dick of the Jasper State Police, officers and Emergency Response Team members arrived at a place on Old Highway 145 south of the town to a man barricaded in a shed behind a house who had a 12-gauge shotgun and had fired it a few times at officers.
That was shortly after 3:00 in the afternoon.
4 hours later, the man inside, 33-year-old Ronald Knapp II, quit communicating with crisis negotiators, and, at about 9:00pm, the ERT entered the shed and took Knapp into custody.
Knapp was taken in by Orange County deputies to the Orange County jail, where he is currently facing a preliminary felony charge of criminal recklessness with a firearm.
