(BLOOMINGTON) - A car fire at an Indiana University parking garage is being investigated for arson.
IUPD Captain Jerry Minger says a 1992 Ford Escort was found at Poplars Garage completely torched by the time Bloomington firefighters could arrive.
Police reports show Owen Gibley, the owner of the vehicle, parked his car in the garage while he went out with friends, and, when he returned to the vehicle around 4:30 yesterday morning, he says he saw someone walking away from the vehicle and flames shooting out of the window.
When Gibley called 911, he also yelled for the man he saw walking away, but that man reportedly did not stop. Officers say they found a planter thrown behind the car which may have contained some sort of accelerant.
Right now, police are looking for a white male who is described as overweight, between 5'4" and 5'6", gray shirt, khaki pants, bald or shaved head and about 25 years of age.
