(MITCHELL) - Another joint task force drug bust nabbed 8 people in Mitchell yesterday.
Officers from both the Bedford and Lawrence County police forces received information regarding possible drug activity at a house on Dale Street in Mitchell and, yesterday morning, made their move.
A warrant was served by Bedford and Lawrence County officers, with Mitchell assisting, at a home on Dale Street yesterday, and brought in 8 alleged offenders and a healthy amount of cocaine and marijuana.
Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley tells WBIW News that only 1 of the two people they were initially looking for was at the house when they arrived, but 5 others were already there and 1 arrived after officers did.
Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig tells WBIW News the investigation continues, but, currently, visiting a common nuisance charges are pending against 20-year-old Rashawn Wilson, 19-year-old Tiffany Strange, 23-year-old Kelly Payton, all of Mitchell, 32-year-old Terrence Holt of Louisville, and 29-year-old Tim Whaley who is also facing false informing and parole violation charges.
Additionally, 44-year-old Angel Pagan of French Lick was found wanted on a warrant, and 25-year-old Noema Torres faces a felony charge of maintaining a common nuisance, since she lived there, with 26-year-old Angel Torres who is charged with possessing and distributing cocaine.
There's certainly a sense of pride within the departments in their joint task force, especially as Parsley smiles while telling WBIW News he believes the project has picked up nearly 30 offenders in Lawrence County since the beginning of the year.
