(BEDFORD) - A Lawrence County conservation officer has been awarded for his actions that saved the life of a woman who fell into the East Fork of the White River.
The Indiana DNR presented Officer Chad Mills with a bronzed eagle Wednesday morning in Indianapolis for bringing a woman out of the river this past December.
According to a release, Mills was lowered down a 20-foot embankment and was able to hold on to the victim until she was out of the water and safe.
Mills is only one of seven DNR officers to be presented with a lifesaving award in Southern Indiana.
