(UNDATED) - For those planning on getting out of dodge this Memorial Day weekend, drive prudently.
Local, county and state officers in Indiana and throughout the Midwest are gunning for, well, just about anything, especially with the Indy 500 getting underway in the Circle City.
From seatbelts, to tailgating, to speeding, to driving drunk, state police are doing their best to catch violators.
Additionally, commercial motor carriers can expect extra patrols looking for illegal parking, oversize, overweight and logbook violations.
And, remember, state police unveiled a series of Ford Mustang GT patrol cruisers yesterday morning, so those cherries and berries might not be perched atop the Crown Vic cruisers you're used to looking for.
All in all, if you're hitting the road, follow the rules, otherwise, that $4.00 gas may not be the only thing burning a hole in your pocketbook.
