(UNDATED) - In an even closer nail biter, for the Democratic gubernatorial primary, former Congresswoman Jill Long Thompson just slightly edged out Indy architect Jim Schellinger. The final spread between the two?
Jill Long Thompson with 50.2%, Jim Schellinger with 49.8% or about 7,000 votes difference. At one point, Schellinger had a mild lead at around 10:00pm last night, however, when final counts came in, Thompson finished ahead.
The two split the state almost in half north and southwise, with Thompson taking most of the counties north of Interstate 70, and Schellinger taking almost everything south of 70, including Lawrence County.
Thompson will take on incumbent Governor Mitch Daniels in November.
