(BLOOMINGTON) - Law enforcement and rescue agencies in Monroe County saved a couple stranded in flood waters on Friendship Road Tuesday night.
Monroe County's Chief Deputy Scott Mellinger says city, county and state officials, including a search and rescue helicopter, were sent to the area around Friendship Road and Yellow Forest to a call of a couple that because lost looking for their car they parked near flood waters, and had become disoriented.
Shortly before 10:00pm when the helicopter arrived, the pilot saw a flashing flashlight and shined a spotlight on it, and found them, about 5 hours after they initially got lost, and pinpointed the location of 23-year-old Brent Campbell and 20-year-old Courtney Kent, who were soon after rescued and treated by medical techs for shock.
Neither was seriously injured.
