(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a battery call that ended up with the victim ditching her alleged assailant at a fast food joint.
Monroe County Chief Deputy Scott Mellinger says when officers made contact with the female victim, she had cuts on her face, a swollen nose, blood on her clothing and she said she had been kicked a couple times in the ribs as well.
While she was giving a statement to deputies at her home, she advised them the man she accuses of assailing her, 25-year-old David Alexander, may still be in the area.
Around that time, other deputies found Alexander running toward the victim's residence and caught up with him and arrested him, despite his protestations that he hadn't battered anyone.
Alexander was lodged in the Monroe County jail on a single battery charge.
