(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man is behind bars after running his car off the road and rolling it over.
22 year old Oscar Chaves was traveling west on West Smithville Road when, according to a witness on the scene, he crossed into the wrong lane and then ran off the roadway.
Chaves asked the witness not to call police, that's when the witness noticed a strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath.
After police arrived Chaves failed a field sobriety test, and when placed in handcuffs he began to try and take the cuffs off and was eventually placed in ankle cuffs as well.
During transport he continued to try and remove both sets of cuffs.
Chaves was lodged in Monroe County Jail on a misdemeanor OWI charge.
