(BLOOMINGTON) - Good news and bad news in Bloomington economics.
Employees of Susrise Greetings in Bloomington were informed Wednesday that the manufacturing arm will be closed.
Network Indiana reports that the change will result in the loss of about 60 jobs, and the phasing out process will start in January 2009 and be completed by March 31st. Sunrise, however, will keep 160 positions at its Bloomington location in other non-manufacturing roles.
However, book publisher Author Solutions Incorporated plans to spend more than $4 million on a Bloomington headquarters consolidation that could see it add more than 140 jobs.
The company will reportedly consolidate its Shanghai, China, publishing operations into its southern Indiana campus.
The company employs 230 people in Bloomington -- and 50 others in Indianapolis.
