(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - President George W. Bush has declared a state of emergency for most of Central and South Central Indiana by request of Governor Mitch Daniels.
Federal funding has now been made available to state and local governments and non-profit organizations through most of the listening area.
The declared counties include Lawrence, Monroe, Bartholomew, Brown, Clay, Daviess, Greene, Jackson, Jennings, Morgan, and Owen Counties, as well as several others further out.
FEMA officials have been assigned to the area to survey further damage and may ultimately declare emergency situations in other counties should the need arise.
