(UNDATED) - The “long dry spell” in the area is finally over as more rain is forecasted for today.
A flash flood watch has been issued for most of the listening area including Lawrence, Monroe, Martin, Greene, Brown, and Jackson Counties.
The watch is effect from this evening through late tonight as rain amounts are expected to reach up to 3 inches by tonight.
Additional rainfall has the possibility to worsen flooding along streams in the area. A flash flood watch does not mean it will flood, but conditions may develop to lead to it.
This morning a line of storms passed through the listening area, and currently a much larger storm system is in Southern Illinois and headed our way.
Rain storms are expected through the afternoon and evening, and stronger storms will develop around seven o'clock tonight.
