(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man led police on a chase Saturday that wound up wiping out in Karst Park.
Monroe County Chief Deputy Scott Mellinger alleges 30-year-old Brian Bastin of Bloomington was spotted making a wild turn from Vernal Pike on to southbound IN-37, and when the officer turned on lights and sirens to pull him over, they say Bastin refused to stop.
Bastin reportedly continued and exited at 2nd Street, took off speeding westbound, blew the light at Leonard Springs, tried to elude the officer eventually running into a fence at Karst Park.
Bastin then got out and took off running into a wooded area, but upon exit was taken into custody. Bastin was lodged in Monroe County jail on felony resisting arrest charges and will also face a hearing since he was out on parole at the time.
