(BEDFORD) - Indiana 4th District Republican Congressman was in downtown Bedford yesterday to talk about his plans on how to increase the supply of energy products.
Buyer also made a clear claim he is not controlled by big oil companies and that he wants America to solve America's problems.
"What I'm trying to do here is apply American solutions to America's own energy challenge as opposed to relying on 'bad actors' around the world," Buyer said yesterday.
Buyer believes the country needs to increase access to American sources of energy to bridge ourselves to the alternative energy future that we seek and desire. Increasing America's energy supply is important to Buyer because he says we lock away our access to our sources of energy.
Buyer says, "We're the only industrialized nation in the world that locks up our ability to gain access to our own sources of energy."
Buyer also believes that if America sends a message that we are going to get into the energy business in a big way it will help lower energy prices.
In regard to environmentally friendly drilling, Buyer says, "Drill now, pay less."
However, Buyer also says the ability to drill environmentally safely is here, with a process known as "spider drilling" which reduces the footprint and its impact upon the environment and conservation.
Buyer also stated that the United States has not opened a new oil refinery in over 30 years, and that America needs to help bridge the gap to alternative fuels by getting into the oil business big time.
