(LINTON) - No charges will be filed in the shooting death of a Linton man.
Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw says the fatal shooting of Jarrett Nicholson was in self-defense and the shooter, Michael Gallagher II, will not be prosecuted.
Nicholson was killed June 27th in an altercation at Gallagher's home.
Detectives had investigated Gallagher and another man, Paul Roby, as well as others around them after the shooting.
Investigators determined, through evidence collected and 911 calls made, that Roby took Nicholson to Gallagher's home to confront him over comments made about Nicholson's girlfriend.
Nicholson would eventually attack Gallagher, beating him about the body and head causing injury, and a single shot was discharged by Gallagher while Nicholson was on top of him punching him in the head.
Nicholson died later at Greene County General Hospital.
