(JACKSON COUNTY) - A Seymour teenager is dead after losing control of her vehicle and running into trees yesterday.
State Police Seymour say 16-year-old Amanda Stahl of Seymour was driving on CR600 East when, for an unknown reason, she left the road, struck a black plastic newspaper box on the side, corrected herself into the middle of the road but continued to overcorrect causing her to leave the road at high speed.
Stahl then ran through a 3-inch pine tree and then into a much larger tree sideways, completely caving in the driver's door.
Emergency crews arrived and worked to both stabilize her vital signs and cut her out of the vehicle she was trapped in and flew her to University of Louisville Hospital.
Early this morning, Stahl succumbed to her injuries in Louisville.
Troopers say Stahl was wearing her seat belt.
