(BLOOMINGTON) - A pair of stolen vehicles were recovered Sunday in Monroe County.
Around 3:30 Sunday morning, a woman reported her car stolen to Monroe County deputies, and officers found a matching vehicle sitting with another at the Lighthouse Christian Academy parking lot.
When the officer approached, he found 6 underage kids, 2 of which, he determined, had stolen the vehicle. During an interview, county officials say the kids admit they found the car sitting with its keys in the door, and decided to make off with it. Then, at the parking lot, a third person wound up damaging the dashboard while trying to get the stereo out of the vehicle.
Two 16-year-olds were taken in for felony auto theft, a third remains under investigation for the car stereo.
Then, Sunday night, police pulled over a car on vernal pike, and when it stopped, both occupants bailed. The officer radioed with a description and address of the vehicle owner, when an Ellettsville officer radioed back saying a taxi cab had just left that home.
After a few more relays, officers would locate the driver, 23-year-old Ryan Mobley at a friend's house waiting for a pizza to show up, and took him into custody. When they were searching Mobley, they reportedly found a syringe, drug paraphernalia, and the keys to a Lexus other officers had just found on Prow Road that was reported stolen.
Mobley was then lodged in the Monroe County jail.
