(NASHVILLE) - A Bartholomew County officer is facing misconduct charges in Brown County after officials allege he had sex with an inmate he was transporting between the two jails.
State Police Sgt. Curt Durnil says Bartholomew County Jail Transport Officer John Kelly was transporting a female inmate from Bartholomew County jail to Brown County jail, when, investigators say, they turned off IN-46 in Brown County through a couple county roads where the two allegedly had sexual contact.
After a speedy investigation with the cooperation of Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett and Brown County Sheriff Robert Stogsdill, two felony charges were filed against Officer Kelly.
Kelly was then himself transported to Brown County jail facing charges of official misconduct and sexual misconduct with an inmate.
