(BLOOMINGTON) - More than 30,000 people will start filing into Bloomington this weekend for the Drum Corps International World Championships that will take place at Memorial Stadium.
The World Class quarterfinals will kick off tomorrow afternoon at 4:00pm. Open and World Class semifinals will start Friday at 8:00am and the finals will start thundering Saturday at 10:00am.
If you're really into drum corps music, you can also check out the Individual and Ensemble Competition at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis at 11:00am today.
The DCI Championships were originally scheduled to take place in Indianapolis over the next 10 years, however, with Lucas Oil Stadium not being quite ready for prime time yet, Drum Corps International officials moved the event to Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
To see if the Blue Devils from Concord, California can hold on to their 2007 trophy, or if Rosemont, Illinois' Cadets can take their mantle back, you have to either be there, or you can catch the highlight reel September 5th on ESPN2.
But if you go in person, do not call them "marching bands." They'll run you out of town.
They're drum corps. And don't forget it.
